1997-Toyota-Paseo

Used Toyota Paseo

Also known in other countries such as Japan as Cynos, the Toyota Paseo is a compact car that was short lived. It was first introduced in the market in 1991. It was a compact spots car that was available as a coupe during its early years. Later on a convertible version of the Toyota Paseo was also introduced. In 1997 Toyota had stopped selling the Paseo in the US, however it was still available to other countries such as Canada, Japan and the rest of Europe. In 1999, the production of the Paseo was finally put on halt and no replacement has been produced ever since.

Early models of the Paseo

The Paseo's name came from the Spanish word ôpaseo which translates to walk or stroll. Thus it was designed to be driven in a cruising speed, just as if you were strolling or lazily enjoying a smooth cruise. The Toyota Paseo was powered a 1.5 liter 5E-FE inline four cylinder engine which spouted out a contested 100 horsepower.

From 1991 to 1995 the Toyota Paseo was supposed to be rated at 100 HP and 91ft-lb torque. However, in California, it was rated at 93 HP and 100 ft-lb torque during 1993. Either way people didn't give much attention to it. All that the buyers wanted was the looks and the “feel good” handling of the Toyota Paseo. The Paseo was available in two transmission types. A five speed manual and a four speed automatic transmission.

Later generations of the Toyota Paseo

In 1995, the second generation of Toyota Paseo was introduced in japan and in North America. The 1995 model year was highly anticipated as it a revamped edition of the earlier Paseo. Although people expected much from the Paseo's make over, people were a bit dismayed when they saw very little change in the design. There were very little changes on the design aspect, however, the engine electronics were upgraded and a new sheet metal was given to the newer model of the Paseo. Later in 1995, the Paseo convertible was introduced and it was made available to the market in 1996.

Due to slow sales pick up, the Toyota Paseo's production ended up with a grinding halt in 1999. Today, Toyota Paseo can only be bought as a used car. A used Toyota Paseo would sometimes end up at our warehouse. If you are interested in purchasing a used Toyota Paseo then just give us a call..

Get Approved

Leasing a Car

Getting a car lease is a good option when you are only going to use the vehicle in a short period of time. You no longer have to pay for huge amount of down payment, interest rates, and other extra costs to own a car. And if you are a business person who needs delivery cars briefly, car lease can be an advantage. However, not understanding the terms of leasing a car can be detrimental not only to your bank account but also to your credit records and other factors linking to it.

So how do you protect yourself and your savings from costly leasing mistakes? We at Washington Toyota have listed important pointers that you need to know before agreeing on a car lease.

Ask these questions

  1. What are the terms when leasing a car?
  2. What type of lease am I signing for?
  3. Are there any warranties? What do they cover?
  4. Are there charges for wear and tear?
  5. What are the penalties if the car was damaged under my care?
  6. Am I responsible for any maintenance and repair costs?
  7. Do I need to get any special insurance?
  8. What are the steps for leasing a car?
  9. What are the steps for buying the car at the end of the lease?
  10. What if I want to terminate the contract prematurely; what happens to the contract?
  11. What are mileage caps?
  12. What payments are due at the beginning and at the end of the lease?
  13. Are there any extra costs that I need to know?
  14. Does the contract allow me to find a new owner?
  15. What is my interest rate?

Learn about car leasing jargon

Most lessee would go back to the lessor shouting and crying that he wants to cancel the contract after realizing that he can't keep up with the rules needed to maintain the car just because he didn't understand some words used in the paper. Terms such as MSRP, residual factor, and capitalized cost may be hard to understand in a layman's term and would actually cause confusions if you did not make the effort to at least know what they really meant.

Don't forget about the gap insurance

Say the leased car has been stolen, totaled or severely damaged, your gap insurance may pay for the car, but it will never pay for your obligations to your lessor. You still have to pay for what you owe on the lease.

If you are unsure to pursue leasing or not, go to and talk to us. Not only do we sell highly maintained used car, but we also help our dear customer make wiser decisions on their purchase.

Saavy Customer

Dealing with loss of support for your vehicle

No, we are not trying to cause panic or make you go paranoid over your car, its warranties, your finances, and everything related to the vehicle you are using. We just want to make it known to everyone that this scenario can and do exist. After one popular carmaker has announced their bankruptcy, hundreds, if not thousands of dealerships have been consolidated and worse, closed. Pittsburgh car owners and buyers have panicked, were confused, and they weren't educated enough what to do in the situation. We at Toyota are pleased to teach you exactly what you need to know.

What if my automaker goes bankrupt?

Consumers have nothing to worry about once automakers shut down. When a carmaker goes broke, it is always structured. This means that the company will still manufacture and produce vehicles, and hire staff though in a small number of workforce. No doubt, you could be concerned about your car's warranty; however, you can guarantee that automakers have Warranty Commitment Program that comes automatic if any dreadful situation incur with the parent company. In fact, in order to eliminate public confusions and concerns, car makers always publicly announce their ongoing warranties.

What happens to vehicles that were already produced?

Simple, those that are still on the market, parent auto companies and car dealers will have to drop its resale value. Automakers going bankrupt will also lower the resale value of your purchased car. Thus, it is best to buy an extended warranty and use the vehicle until it's all worn out or something goes wrong along your way.

What happens if my dealership shuts down?

Now this could be a problem. When a local dealership closes, it could inflict buyers and car owners in many ways such as the following:

  1. You will have to get the remaining warranty services from other car shops, which could be located miles apart from your residence. Now if you are in dire need of a repair work, this means that you will have to travel for several hours just to have the car checked.
  1. You may find it hard to look for your choice of brand in Pittsburgh and you will have fewer options when you are about to purchase one. Well unless you don't see any trouble going to another state or town to find a better deal, then this won't have to be problem.
