2014 Toyota 4Runner

Toyota 4Runner

The Toyota 4Runner, though an excellent off road SUV, has always been outshone by its bigger brother, the Toyota Land Cruiser. What many don't realize is that the Toyota LC and 4Runner are completely different vehicles, the latter costing almost twice as much as the 4Runner.

Engine

The basic architecture of the 4Runner borrows many elements from its first cousin, the now discontinued FJ Cruiser. For example, it boasts a rugged truck based rear axle that many crossover SUVs of today tend to shy away from. All of the trim levels of the 4Runner are powered by a 4 liter V6 engine that can produce up to 270 horses under the hood along with 278 pounds of torque per feet. Just like the engine, transmission choice is also limited to a five speed automatic. However, drive train choices vary from a rear wheel to a 4 wheel drive system. The 4WD is further divided into fulltime and part time systems.

Exterior

Even though the 4Runner sports truck based mechanics reminiscent of 90's SUVs, you won't be able to guess that by looking at the exterior styling of the 4Runner. It seems as modern as any other crossover SUV, with an aggressive front bull bar and sharp corners that make it seem as menacing as ever. Though both the FJ and 4Runner share the same basic platform, the latter is much larger than the Cruiser.

Features

Three trim levels are available for the Toyota 4Runner; the base SR5, Trail and the top of the line Limited. Standard features on the SR5 include alloys, air conditioning, skid prevention plates, fog lights, cruise control, parking cameras, power windows/mirrors/seats, adjustable steering column, Bluetooth connectivity and a huge touch screen console placed in the center of the dashboard that works with the Entune syncing system. The Trail, which is the most common trim among used Toyota 4Runner models at Washington Toyota, upgrades the features list with crawl control, upgraded tires and even water resistant upholstery.

If you want to go all out, we prefer getting the Limited trim which features pretty much everything on the list. From adaptive suspension dampers to dual zone climate control, you'll be getting most of the essential features in the Limited trim. Some of the used Toyota 4Runner models we have in stock at Washington Toyota also boast a KDSS along with GPS navigation systems. If you're interested in getting a Toyota 4Runner for yourself, make sure to go through Washington Toyota’s inventory.

The Basics of Auto Loans

Three, five, seven years? How long should a car loan really be? You might have known by now the new trend in car buying and loaningùthat you can pay for a car for as much as seven or even eight years. This means that you can reduce your monthly payments up to 25% less than a three or five-year loan. While it may sound pretty good to your ears and your pocket, it is best to do your homework first before you jump into signing the contract. You never know what this actually means to your bank account once you calculate the total cost of your car at the end of the period. You will be surprised of the results.

Disadvantages of a seven to eight-year loan

In the past decades, car loaning has just gone from a three to five-year contract (five as the most lengthy period). That was when the car industry and the economy is at its peak. However, with today's economy and the people's low monthly salaries, consumers just dillydallied the thought of buying a vehicle, and in turn, car manufacturers, dealers, and lenders were obliged to compromise their sales and went to an eight-year loan contract in order to boost their failing businesses.

With a longer loan contract, you will cut down around 20% to 40% of your original monthly payment. However, this means that your interest rate will go significantly higherùleading to an escalating total cost of your car. On the buyer's part, this is an obvious rip off. And let's face it; the truth is that, you can only call the vehicle as officially yours once you have completed your payments. Meaningùyou can own the car only after eight years after the initial payment.

So what is a better car loan period?

Honestly, if you can complete your overall payment at the shortest time possible, that would be awesome. Not only will you save almost 50% of your total cost when you go for an eight-year loan, you can also do as much as you want for the car as it is formally and legally yours. If the finances are too tight, just go for a five-year loan and don't ever go way beyond it. Rather, if you think that your budget won't cut it for at least five years, better choose the next best car of your choice that can match what your pocket can offer.

If you live in the South Hills area, we at Washington Toyota offers the most considerable and reasonable loan options to match your budget. We, along with automotive and finance experts will also guide you on how to effectively finance your car that will suit your needs. Visit us today and let us serve you.

What your credit score means for your auto loan

Credit scores, although are just mere combination or three numbers, determine a lot about our financial capabilities. From loans to leases and rents, all are affected by how are credit scores are doing. We are usually given this credit rating based on our financial performance and ability to pay our debts and liabilities. Depending on how disciplined and punctual we are on paying our dues, we are either given a rating that is highly commendable or a rating that will put us to shambles.

Understanding credit score values

Fico is one of the institutions which gives us credit scores and their model is widely accepted among other financial institutions as well. We are usually given a score between 300 up to 900, depending on our performance. Rating includes our payment history, debt burden, time in file, types of credit used and recent searches for credit.

Getting the highest mark which is 900 means that we are highly credible and approval for loans and financial assistance will be approved almost instantaneously. On the other hand getting a score of less than 600 means a whole lot of trouble for us.

A person with a credit score of less than 600 means that he is less credible and has a higher chance that he might not be able to pay his dues. Therefore, application for loans, financing, rents or lease will be harder to get approved. Even if he gets an approval for a loan or any sort of financial help, he will surely get a higher interest rate because the financial institution consider him as a risk. This on the other hand hurts the person even more and further sets him deeper into debt.

Improving your credit line

For some people bankruptcy is inevitable, but it does not need to be that way. There are measures to keep one's finances secured. One way of protecting your finances is to develop the habit of paying your bills and dues on time. Even though it may sound simple, but doing so will greatly improve your credit score.

Avoid using credit cards if you can. If you can pay with cash every transaction you make then it is better. Keeping your credit balance low is also an important factor in getting a higher credit score. You also would like to open as less credit accounts as you possibly could. Keeping of debt is just as important as paying them off, that is why you must stay away from one as possible. Keeping credit cards is not going to help.

Even car purchases are affected by your credit performance. We would like to help people get their needs that is why we try to help. I you’re in the Belle Vernon area and are thinking about buying a car, go to Washington Toyota if you need to know more about credit scores and auto loans.

Used Toyota FJ Cruiser

Used FJ Cruiser

The FJ cruiser from Toyota is one of the later models in a line of SUVs released by the company. It was first launched in 2007 as a replacement for the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. Consumers had their first glance of the FJ Cruiser in an auto show in the US. At that time it was a concept car and was not ready for the production yet. After having a very positive feedback from the people, Toyota made it official that they will be releasing the car's final design in 2005. Official production of the car started in 2006 at a car manufacturing facility run by Hino Motors in Japan.

Highlights from the latest year model

Because the car was mainly designed for the off road terrain the FJ cruiser only had one trim level throughout its entire eight year run. It comes with a standard 17in wheels, air-conditioning, power locks and windows, 60/40 split folding rear seat, Bluetooth, Water resistant cloth upholstery, satellite radio, USB and auxiliary jacks for iPods and MP3s, and a CD player.

Aside from these, there were additional features that can be added as an option. However these were limited to certain countries only. These features include alloy wheels, rear window wiper, rearview camera, parking sensors, extra gauges, electronic locking rear differential, roof racks, heavy duty suspension system, driving lights, rock rails, spare tires, and cargo covers.

Review

Because the Toyota FJ Cruiser is a mid-sized SUV it certainly has a lot of competition, however the FJ Cruiser is a specialized vehicle that has superior off-road capabilities compared to any other SUV in the market. It is built from a ladder-frame chassis that is usually used for trucks making it really tough and off-road worthy. Aside from its sturdy chassis, the FJ Cruiser is equipped with a rigid suspension system that is very capable of doing high speed runs and turns over punishing terrains.

Because the FJ Cruiser is a bit smaller that the Toyota 4Runner it also costs less making it more attractive to the younger and more active generation of drivers.

In 2013, Toyota announced that the 2014 model year would be the last Toyota FJ Cruiser that will be sold on the American market, however, it will still be available in other countries around the world. If you are planning to get one now then you might want to check us out at Washington Toyota for the best deal on used Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Toyota Prius

Just like the Corolla has become a segment leader for all compact sedans to follow, the Toyota Prius has become the most recognizable hybrid in the world. In fact, it can be credited as introducing the concept of hybrid vehicles to the masses. Before the Prius entered the world, hybrids were looked upon as a toy rather than full fledged cars due to their fragile components. Though it may not have been the first hybrid to enter the North American market, it was the one that gave the push for other manufacturers to start introducing hybrid variants of popular models. This is due to the Prius being affordable, economical, stylish as well as fun to drive. Thus, it should be your first choice when searching for a hybrid in the Washington PA area.

Engine

The Prius gets its power from a 1.8 liter petrol engine mated with two electric motors in order to produce 134hp. The combination of an electric motor with a gasoline engine results in an excellent fuel mileage of more than 50mpg in the city, something that was unheard of before 2003, when the Prius was first introduced. Along with that, the planetary gear also acts as a CVT.

Exterior

Traditionally, the Prius has always been available as a semi-hatchback, which is why you won't find any other body styles among older used Toyota Prius models. However, later models also introduced a larger wagon and compact variant, the latter of which is recommend for Washington PA residents looking to park in compact spots.

Features

The Prius is available in a choice of 4 trim levels called the two, three, four and five. As you may have guessed, the Two is the standard trim and features keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, a touch screen display on the center console and automatic climate control. The Three adds other niceties such as a parking camera, GPS navigation and Toyota's very own Entune syncing system, while the Four upgrades the features list with temperature controlled seats and leather stitched upholstery. The best of the lot is definitely the Five, which marks almost all the options on the feature list while adding advanced features such as solar powered air conditioning, firmer suspension, heads-up display and a GPS navigation system.
