ToyotaCare

ToyotaCare

While a car is meant to go, go, go à it is also meant to stop - and stop often! While most are more concerned with their sound system, navigational tools or singing to the radio, it’s important to remember that your brakes need some thought too. If you want to keep your car going for the long haul, you need to take your car in for regular checkups. Otherwise, you take the risk of problems occurring. How do you know if your brakes may be in need of some attention? Caring for a Toyota is made easy with brakes that are designed to let you know when they are in need of service. So, keep your eyes and ears open for signals from your car.

Here are four ways to know when your brakes may need to see an expert.

Brake Light: You’re driving along, when suddenly, your brake light flickers to life. What do you do? The brake light can signal a number of different things - low brake fluid or a malfunction with the brake system. If your brake light comes on, don’t panic. First - make sure your parking brake is released. After fully releasing the parking brake, see if the brake light is still on. If the light goes away, your brake system is operating correctly. However, if the brake light remains on, stop the car and call a professional. Indicator lights are important, so be sure to pay attention to them. Brake Pads: Just like other parts of a car that can wear out over time, brake pads do too. Any time your brakes are used, it causes ware on the pads. This, of course, is normal. However, when brake pads wear out completely, the rotars become damaged. This means you’ll find yourself with a very big expense! Not to mention, driving on worn brake pads is dangerous and can potentially lead to an accident. Stop Time: Are you in tune with the feel of your brakes? You better make sure you are. Being able to tell if something is amiss with your brakes could mean brakes that stop and brakes that, well, don’t! If you’ve noticed you need to brake sooner than usual in order to stop your car, it’s time to get them checked. Sounds: Just as you can see a brake light blink on, you can just as easily hear when your brakes are having a problem. When brakes are near the end of their life, they will make a harsh, scratching sound, like metal rubbing against metal. They may also create a high-pitched squealing sound. These noises can be heard inside the car with the windows up, which enables you to know when brakes are indicating to you that they have a problem. To learn more about your car’s brakes and suggested checkup times, visit your car’s manual or speak with Washington Toyota. Located in Washington and South Hills, Pennsylvania and Morgantown, West Virginia.

2015 Toyota Tundra

On a mission to buy a new truck? If you’re looking for one that is seriously capable, has excellent towing rates, and provides plenty of power, check out the 2015 Toyota Tundra.

Trims and Styles:

The Tundra is available in six trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro. It also comes in three body styles: two-door regular cab, four-door extended cab (double cab), and four-door Crew Cab (CrewMax). Body styles are mixed with two wheelbases and three bed lengths: 5.5 ft. short bed, 6.5 ft. standard bed, and 8.1 ft. long bed.

Power:

The 2015 Tundra ditched its previous V6 engines, an instead, opted for two V8s. The power is strong and the off-road skills are just as intense. When it comes to power, here are some numbers to know:

The SR double cab houses a 4.6-liter V8 engine with six-speed automatic transmission. It provides 310 horsepower with 327 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the body style, the maximum towing rate for the 4.6-liter engine is between 6,400 and 6,800 pounds.

The Limited, Platinum, 1794, and TRD Pro trims all have a standard 5.7-liter V8 engine with six-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque.

Are you made for off-road action? The 2015 Tundra provides just that. It rides with skid plates, off-road tires, Bilstein shocks, and a raised suspension, making it optimal for off-road adventures.

Safety:

Even if you want a truck that drives hard, you also want it to be safe. Safety ratings for the 2015 Tundra are top of the line. It received five out of five stars in government crash testing for side-impact crash protection. It was also given a ôGood rating by the IIHS in several categories, including: moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof strength tests. It also received a rating of ôGood in whiplash protection in rear impacts.

Another rating worth mentioning is stopping speeds. The Tundra 1794 model with 4WD goes from 0-60 in 6.8 seconds and stops from 60 mph in 130 ft. The Tundra TRD Pro guns 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds and stops from 60 mph in 134 ft. Both times are quicker than average for their class.

Standard safety equipment included in all trim levels are: anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, trailer sway control, front air bags, front side-impact airbags, and side curtain airbags that cover both rows. All trims also have a rearview camera to help with parking and backing up.

If you purchase the Limited model, you have the option of parking sensors. Also available on the Limited, as well as the Platinum and 1794 models is a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alerts.

Opt for optimal capabilities with the 2015 Tundra. Visit Washington Toyota, located in Washington and South Hills, Pennsylvania and Morgantown, West Virginia.

2015 Toyota RAV4

For all ages and tastes, the Toyota RAV4 satisfies most shoppers. The RAV4 is a compact crossover and like others in its class, it is popular for reasons like easy-to-park size, up-for-anything personality, and decent fuel mileage.

Here’s what the 2015 editions have in store for you.

Cargo: One of the greatest assets of the 2015 RAV4 is its space and versatility. The RAV4 houses more cargo and passenger space than other compact cross-overs in its class. The cargo bay holds 38.4 cubic feet with a whopping 73.3 cubic feet when the second row of seating is folded down. This maximum space makes it one of the most generous in its class. The RAV4’s great cargo room is partly due to its low-mounted rear seats and low load-in height. Both aspects help minimize strain while loading heavy items, all while providing optimal storage.

Safety: The 2015 RAV4 has top ratings in safety. In government crash tests, it received four out of five stars: four stars in frontal protection and overall protection, and five stars in side-impact protection.

The IIHS gave the RAV4 ôGood ratings for protection of occupants in moderate-overlap and small-overlap frontal off-set impact tests. It also received a ôGood rating in side-impact, roof strength, and whiplash tests.
