Toyota Camry

Comfortable, spacious, good visibility, high-tech features, and reliability. What more can one ask for in a car? The 2015 Toyota Camry is a top pick and offers four trims that are fully-loaded and ready to please. Check it out!

LE: The LE stands at the base of the 2015 Camry lineup and offers much more than the bare minimum. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels and is equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, and cloth upholstery. Headlights are automatic, mirrors are heated, and entry is keyless. Also included is a rearview camera. Technology includes Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and 6.1-inch Entune touchscreen electronics interface. The sound system comes with six-speakers, CD player, auxiliary audio jack, and USB/iPod interface.

SE: The SE trim builds upon the base LE trim, adding a few of its own personal touches. Wheels jump to 17-inch alloy, suspension is sport-tuned, gauges are upgraded, and the interior and exterior gain unique styling elements. Seats have sport fabric and upholstery is simulated leather.

The LE and SE are both eligible for some extra add-ons, like satellite and HD radio, sunroof, and color trip computer.

XSE: Adding onto the SE’s equipment is the XSE. Wheels get another boost in side, measuring 18 inches, and front seats gain heat and more aggressive side bolstering. This trim also includes LED running lights, four-way power passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, plus satellite and HD radio.

XLE: While similar to the XSE, the XLE has the LE’s suspension tuning nad does not include any sport elements. Wheels also drop back down to 17 inches, but there is full leather upholstery for an upscale feel.

The XLE, as well as the XSE, are both able to grab several items from a healthy option list. Two optional features include a blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert system. The Advanced Technology package comes with even more options for these two trims. It comes with lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning and braking system, automatic high-beam headlight control, plus 10-speaker JBL sound system.

Safety: Toyota’s tend to come with plenty of standard safety equipment, as well as high crash test scores. The 2015 does both. Standard equipment includes: antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front and rear side and side-curtain airbags, and front knee airbags. A rearview camera is also standard across the board.

In government crash tests, the 2015 Camry scored high. It received five-out-of-five stars in overall crash protection. It got four stars in frontal-impact and five stars in side-impact protection.

In testing by the IIHS, the 2015 Camry also got top scores. In moderate-overlap and small-overlap frontal-offset impact tests, as well as in side-impact, roof-strength, and whiplash protection tests, it received the highest score of ôGood.

Toyota Prius

When it comes to the word hybrid, what kind of car first comes to mind? For most, it’s the Prius - the pioneer of hybrids and still standing as the most popular among consumers.

2015 brought a bit more to the Toyota Prius Hatchback this year with the addition of a Persona Series trim level and rearview camera standard across the board. IT also comes with everything you’d expect from the newest Prius, like super fuel economy, comfortable ride quality, and nice high-tech features. But, there’s more to learn about this hybrid, so continue reading!

Trims:

Two: As the lowest trim level, the Two is equipped with a lengthy list of equipment and features. Some of the most basic features include, cruise control, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cloth upholstery, and air conditioning. When you look past these items, things get a lot more high tech. It comes with keyless ignition and entry, rearview safety camera, advanced trip computer, and 6.1-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. The sound system includes, six speakers, CD player, auxiliary audio jack, and iPod/USB audio interface.

Three: Stepping from the Two to the Three means some enhanced add-ons. It comes standard with an enhanced keyless entry system, navigation system, voice controls, and satellite and HD radio. The Three also tacks on Toyota’s Entune system that includes real-time information and the ability to connect smartphones with apps like Pandora and iHeartRadio.

Persona Series: The newly added Persona Series trim includes all of the equipment found on the Three, plus a few more perks. Some include: 17-inch alloy wheels, additional chrome trim, and side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Four: Just like the Persona Series, the Prius Four also includes all equipment found on the Prius Three. It also adds automatic headlights, eight-way power driver seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and front seats that are heated. Also included is a JBL sound system with eight speakers.

Five: If you opt for the top trim, the Five, you’ll get a few extra add-ons to nicely round off the feature list. These items include, unique 17-inch alloy wheels, foglights, and LED headlights.

There are several individual options, as well as packages available to the Prius, depending on the trim level. One package worth mentioning is the Advanced Technology package. Available only for the Five, it bundles adaptive cruise control, pre-collision alert system, lane-departure warning system, Safety Connect, head-up display, and a higher-quality navigation display.

Power: All models of the 2015 Prius Hatchback house a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that’s combined with a pair of electric motor/generators. Working together, they send power to the front wheels through a specialized continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Do you ever find yourself needing more space than provided in most sedans, but don’t want to step behind the wheel of a monstrous SUV? A midsize crossover SUV may just be the answer. Toyota’s RAV4 is an excellent in-between vehicle that offers great cargo space, excellent power and fuel economy, solid build quality, an high crash scores - all must-have qualities.

The RAV4 has three trim levels, each coming in front-or all-wheel drive and a four-cylinder or V6 engine. Here’s a closer look.

Base: For a smidge above the bare minimum, the base RAV4 is a great pick. This trim rides on 16-inch steel wheels with limited-slip differential, has air conditioning, cruise control, and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. The audio system comes with six speakers, CD player, and auxiliary audio jack. One nice feature to note is keyless entry.

Models of the base trim that house a V6 engine with 4WD get bigger alloy wheels, measuring 17 inches.

Sport: The Sport trim doesn’t add much in terms of standard equipment and features, but it does have some potential options you may find it equipped with. Standard on the Sport trim is sportier suspension tuning, color-keyed bumpers, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Sport’s optional Appearance package will equip the RAV4 Sport with some nice extras. Some include: leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated side-view mirrors, and chrome exterior details.

Headlights are automatic, mirrors are heated, climate control is dual-zone and automatic, and the audio system gets an upgrade with added six-CD changer and satellite radio. It also has roof rails and hard-shell spare-tire cover.

All V6 versions of the Limited also gain hill-start assist and downhill assist control.

One option you may find on all trims of the RAV4 is the optional third-row seat. While this SUV typically seats five, if you find it with the optional third-row seat, passenger capacity is bumped tos even.

Toyota Tacoma

If you’re in the market for a used midsize pickup truck, the Toyota Tacoma is a good choice. It provides a wide variety of body styles and trims, excellent safety scores, plus good fuel economy and power. It also has an impressive build quality that you’ll generally see in a Toyota. 2012 boosted the appeal of the Tacoma with updated styling inside and out, plus a lengthy list of high-tech entertainment features. Here’s a closer look.

Base: The Tacoma’s base trim provides simplicity and the ideal work truck. It’s equipped with 15-inch steel wheels with limited-slip differential, cloth upholstery, and tilt-and-telescoping bed-liner and bed utility rail system. It wouldn’t be a worthwhile vehicle without some road music, so the base includes a four-speaker sound system with CD player, satellite radio, and auxiliary audio jack.

Models of the base trim that come with the Access Cab body style add a few more perks to the simplicity of the base trim. With it comes upgraded cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, rear bench seat with under seat storage, ad power locks and windows. The sound system gets a boost, too, with two extra speakers, totaling six.

The Tacoma Double Cab gets more impressive steel wheels, measuring 16 inches, plus front skid plate. Mirrors are powered and the driver seat gains adjustable lumbar support for added comfort. The six-speaker stereo of the Access Cab are included on this trim, but it gets the added bonus of an iPod/USB audio interface and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. One optional bundle that you may find on the Tacoma is the TRD Off-Road package. If included, the Tacoma will be equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, fender flares, heavy-duty suspension, locking rear differential, and hill-start assist/hill-decent control. It will also come with sport seats.

Inside: When you climb into the Tacoma, you’ll find slick black surfaces, good space, and gauges that are straight-forward and user-friendly. Rear seats flip up and down to provide more available storage. If you like camping and other outdoor activities, the Tacoma is equipped with a 115-volt AC outlet mounted inside the truck bed.

Safety: As with most all Toyota’s, the Tacoma provides good safety equipment. Standard gear includes: antilock disc brakes - front-disc, rear drum - with brake assist and stability and traction control. It also provides front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints.

In government crash tests, the Tacoma received four-out-of-five stars in overall crash protection and five stars in side impacts. While it only got three stars in frontal crash protection in government testing, the IIHS gave it the best possible score of ôGood in frontal-offset and side crash tests.
