Looking for a quality truck? What about one that’s powerful under the hood, capable on-road and off and is sleek inside and out? If these qualities sound good to you, then check out the 2015 Toyota Tundra.
The Tundra saw a pretty big overhaul just last year, but Toyota continued to work hard to make it even better for the 2015 lineup. It now features updated styling, a newly added off-road TRD Pro trim level and the elimination of the V6 engine. It now solely houses a V8 power train on all trim levels and when properly equipped can match some of the best tow rates in its class. The 2015 Tundra also shows off a more modern and refined interior that pampers you on the inside, while it works hard everywhere else.
For driving off the beaten path, the new TRD Pro trim level is an excellent choice. The TRD Pro is designed with off-road ability in mind and can be found in double cab and CrewMax body styles. What separates this model from the rest of the 2015 lineup is its more rugged equipment. It features 18-inch alloy wheels, a TRD dual exhaust, Bilstein shocks for tougher bumps and ruts and a front skid plate. You can also conquer more terrain with its two-inch increase in ride height. Style is increased on the TRD Pro, too, with bucket seats that fashion red stitching. Standing as an optional add-on is a spray-in bed liner. Found under the hood of the TRD Pro is a 5.7-liter V8 engine that’s paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. This combo provides 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. Included is a standard tow package and when properly equipped, the TRD Pro has a max tow rate of 9,800 to 10,500 pounds.
For a lower trim equipped similar to the TRD Pro, you’ll find the SR5 to be a solid choice. It features content like fog lights, chrome grille surround, chrome rear bumper, variable intermittent wipers, manual sliding rear window and rear under-seat storage try. The SR5 is eligible for the Upgrade package, which equips the SR5 with front buck seats, eight-way power driver seat, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, front center console and auto-dimming rearview mirror. Also included is an alarm system. The SR5 can also mirror some of the off-road content of the TRD Pro with the TRD Off-Road package. It includes: 18-inch alloy wheels, al-terrain tires, off-road-tuned suspension, skid plates, tow hooks and rear privacy glass. The SR5 houses a 4.6-liter V8 paired to a six-speed automatic transmission - a combo that produces 310 hp and 327 pound-feet of torque. When properly towed, max tow capacity ranges between 6,400 and 6,800 pounds.
