The 2017 Toyota Highlander an SUV Moving Forward

2017 Toyota Highlander

More value is the call for the 2017 Toyota Highlander  SUV. Receiving updates in looks, power, and safety from a year ago, this year’s Highlander ups its game to edge a head of the competition.

Safety features fill out a platform that is second to none. A level of safety found usually only in top tier trims, become standard in the Highlander. With added horsepower, a composed ride, and comfortable three row seating, SUV buyers receive a vehicle that represents all the qualities that make the SUV an ever more desirable choice.

Improved Horsepower and Improved Performance in the Highlander

Bigger power comes from the same size 3.5L V6 engine, as it goes up from 270hp to 295hp for 2017. Torque is improved from 248lb-ft to 263lb-ft as well. An all-new 8-speed automatic transmission, increasing from 6 from last year, takes the new power and manages it to achieve smoother acceleration and better gas mileage.

Toyota’s Dynamic Torque-Control AWD automatically distributes power evenly to front to back for a better control. Towing capacity in the Highlander can go up to 5,000lb with higher trims. Start and stop technology aids in fuel mileage by shutting down the motor when idling and quickly restarting to accelerate.

The Toyota Highlander's exterior is more Dramatic for 2017

A newly restyled exterior includes a widened front bumper, further extending its triangular shape and enhancing an already dynamic look. Added alterations to the bumper’s edges changes the shape of the Highlander from a year ago, for a stronger appearance. Headlights and taillights are slightly reshaped as well, and LED elements are added around the taillights.

The Highlander’s Quiet and Comfortable Interior

The interior of the Highlander has 5 USB ports, and can seat up to 8 passengers. Cargo space is maximized with second and third row fold flat seating. To keep things as quiet as possible, the Highlander has sound insulation in the floor and an acoustic glass windshield. Soft touch materials are found in the instrument panel, center console, and arm rests. Overall, the interior of the Highlander feels high end, with excellent storage, and a clean looking instrument panel.
