2016 marks a big year for many Toyotas – one being the Tacoma. This popular pickup truck shows off a complete redesign that boasts a new V6 engine, extensive option list, plus even more off-road capability than ever before. Here are the top reasons to invest in this must-have truck, today!
|Engine Size:||2.7 L|
|Drivetrain:||Rear Wheel and Four Wheel|
If there's one thing that's great on the Tacoma it has to be its off-road capability. You can find it best featured in the TRD Off-Road model. Not only does this model offer its own rugged appeal, but it also has special 16-inch alloy wheels, Bilstein shock absorbers, and chin spoiler. Included, too, is an electronic-locking rear differential, plus a Crawl Control system, which acts as a cruise control for off-road maneuvers between one and five mph if you opt for the automatic transmission. The TRD Off-Road model also comes with many optional add-ons, including a Premium and Technology package. This package equips the Tacoma with automatic headlights, sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
When it comes to trucks, there are many different sizes to choose from, such as bed lengths and cab style. Toyota ensures you get the truck you want with a good variety of choices. The Tacoma is available in two cabs: Access and Double. Access Cab models come with a 127.8-inch wheelbase and 73.7-inch long bed. Double Cab models can be had in two wheelbases and two bed lengths: wheelbases are 127.4 inches or 141 inches; bed lengths are 60.5 inches or the previously mentioned 73.7 inches.
Looking for a truck that houses a powerful engine under the hood? The 2016 Tacoma will suit you well. It features one of two engines: a 2.7-liter four-cylinder or 3.5-liter V6. It can also be had with either rear-wheel-drive (4X2) or four-wheel-drive (4X4) configurations; 4X2 Tacomas have a six-speed automatic transmission while 4X4s can have the automatic or one of two manual transmissions – five speed for the four-cylinder engine and six-speed for the V6.
If you like the power of the Tacoma then you'll love the tow rates. Four-cylinder Tacomas can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while V6 models can tow a maximum weight of between 6,400 and 6,800 pounds depending on driveline and cab configuration.
